Exploring Indonesia’s Capital
Today, we finally arrived in Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta. After getting off the plane, we took a taxi to the Ibis Jakarta Tamarin hotel in the city center, which costs around $50 per night. After checking in, we decided to take a rest.
In the afternoon, we visited the famous National Monument, or Monas for short. The monument stands at 132 meters and is a symbol of Indonesia’s independence. Standing at the foot of the monument, we were struck by its grandeur. An interesting thing happened here – my girlfriend discovered a little squirrel in the garden around the monument. It was leisurely searching for food and didn’t seem to mind the presence of tourists at all. We found this scene very interesting and took many photos to remember it.
Trying Indonesian Cuisine
In the evening, we went to a local restaurant to try Indonesian cuisine. Satay and Nasi Goreng were our main dishes for the night. Satay is made of chicken, lamb, or beef skewered and grilled, served with a special peanut sauce, and it tastes delicious. Nasi Goreng, on the other hand, is one of Indonesia’s most representative dishes, made of stir-fried rice with vegetables, egg, shrimp, and other ingredients, and it has a savory and tasty flavor.
Although today’s itinerary was simple, it left a deep impression on us. Especially the experience of interacting intimately with a little squirrel near the monument, which made us feel the harmony between nature and the city.
